Free The Robots : Roam & Urth - From Elsewhere
I remember buying a couple of Tees from Bond (Carnaby street) back in 2006 when the guy behind the till popped a cd into the bag with interesting artwork on it, which turned out to be by Mr Shephard Fairey. I didn't take much notice of it and had it laying around in my room for a good few months until one time on a stoned evening in by myself I decided to stick it on. The result was a journey through sound.
Since then, I wouldn't be exagerrating if I said that this album acted as a catalyst in my evolution of self from that point onwards. Every occasion that I've stuck it on when I've been in the company of others has always been a very sparkly intense one, let alone when I'm by myself whih is just SOMETHING ELSE haha... From Portishead, to Eazy E, random turkish folk singing, Mos Def, Gangsta Boogie, Gypsy Woman, Muse, Roy Ayers, ODB, wild woods, Fela Kuti, The Specials, lounge trumpets, J Dilla, Outkast, Radiohead, The streets, to skits from movies like Nacho Libre, to all kinda crazy psychadelic acid jazz funk mad ska rock punk skater GOD knows what else it's like a cocktail of magnificent goodness moulded into a trippy story. It gives your mind the same feeling that those Maoam sweets give your tastebuds. Ear Nectar if you will.
I suggest that if you're into eclectic music check out Obey records & The Brainfeeder massive (which I've banged on about before) it's like vitamins for your mind. If, or shall I say when I take acid it will be to this.
